Glow in the Dark Can Cozy

Image
Life has been soooo busy.  Several years ago I moved home to help family.  This meant moving into my parents basement.  It's cool and dry and I can have bookshelves has far as the eye can see...though my mom keeps threatening me about the basement sinking because of all of the books but I think I need way more than 2500 that I currently have spaced out throughout the basement.  I was pretty ok with how it was but I definitely wanted a bathroom downstairs so I wouldn't have to run upstairs for a shower or toilet.  Long story short between starting a new job two months ago we also started on construction of the basement which is why posts have been few and far between.  Having a walk in closet and bathroom great but when doing a lot of the stuff yourself not so much.  That and I am highly allergic to dust and trees so yeah my body is trying to kill me with the construction. On to the fun things in life.  I've been playing with craft technique...

New epoxy mixing

I've been experimenting with combining different colors and glitter with my molds to see what I can get out of it.  They've turned out really well for the most part.  This dragon in particular turned out amazing.  I took a little gold glitter and sprinkled it in the mold followed by a burgundy mica and then finally a gray.  Since I only used a little and mixed it up it was able to give the dragon some depth and really enhances the dragon.   Next up was playing around with epoxy boxes. I had purchased from The Glitter Guy the Hallows Pack .  I've used them a couple of times in tumblers and wanted to see how and if they would work in the box molds.  I had a general idea of what colors I wanted for the people who they're for.   Even though they are similar in design they turned out vastly different.  I didn't use as much glitter in this one but more of the HP themed cuts.   When you look inside the box you can see the ...

Projects

This last week as been very busy.  We're coming up to the holiday and it is now the growing season in the Midwest which means canning.  Farmer's market on Saturday to get a whole host of fresh goodies to consume.  Later in the season I'll share some of them plus the fun can have labeling all of the goodies. I had participated in an event for an author and made two tumblers with one more to go.  The people wanted two very different Tumblers but with a quotes from the books.  Both turned out amazing and hope they like them. I am also experimenting with tattoo paper to make a tumbler.  Now to cut them out and get them on the tumbler.  Fingers crossed it will turn out ok.   I've been playing with more molds.  Here's my newest one.  I'm not sure about how it turned out.  Let me know what you think.

Something new from Epoxy

I like trying new things and when I found some videos on using molds with epoxy I said I needed to try it asap.  The first batch was an small failure. These look really good but they never dried and hardened.  I thought I could do what I do with tumblers and use acrylic paint.  Apparently I either had the ratio wrong or it just isn't going to work.  Gorgeous but not usable.  The ones with straight glitter worked out well so there I was fine but if I wanted to have the color it was back to the drawing board. So I spent time on YouTube to see what the hell I was doing wrong to get color in the boxes.   Apparently there is a powder you can use to get colored boxes.  Amazon to the rescue.  I found this  Mica Powder .  Once it arrived I got right to work on molds.  Amazon was also evil and made suggestions on molds so I ended up with additional molds to play with.   Here's a dragon I made with the Mica Powder Here are the ...
