Striped Glitter Cup

I was looking to make a new style of cup to design and I found a sampling of a striped cup.  There are two different methods to do this.  This post is the first method.  I'll show the second method later.  You will need a tumbler that isn't tapered.  The one I used for this method were  Built  and  Ozark Trail  (older version) from Walmart.  The Ozark Trail cup has a slight taper but nothing major.  The Built ones were completely straight.   Tumbler A -  I taped up my cup with some painters tape to begin with.  Any painters tape will work.  I tried angled lines, straight up and down, and around the whole cup.  Each had there pluses and minuses.  None of the lines were perfect which irritates me quite a bit.  The people they were for don't care they just like the designs.   Tumbler B - Circle Once taped up I picked a primary color to use for each of the open spaces.  For tumbler A it was silver and for B and C it was black. Honeycomb Skill Level: Intermediate Abbreviations: K – Knit SL – Slip WS – Wrong Side RS –  Right Side WYIF – With Yarn in Front WYIB – With Yarn in Back Pattern Cast on a multiple of 8 sts, plus 6 Row 1 (RS): Color A, knit. Row 2 (WS): Color A, knit. Row 3: Color B, K2, *SL2 wyib, K6; rep from * to last 4 sts, SL2 wyib, K2. Row 4: Color B, P2, *SL2 wyif, P6; rep from * to last 4 sts, SL2 wyif, P2. Rep Rows 1 - 16.   Alternative Honeycomb This will give you a flat Color A (Grey in picture) instead of raised honeycombs.   It is personal preference as to which looks better.   It’s not any more difficult then the first pattern.   It is all about the aesthetics of what you want you project to look like.
